Notes |
- "A young and beautiful maiden with a dowery consisting of 1000 acres, she was the daughter of the most illustrious man in Concord, Major Simon Willard, soldier and engineer... Elizabeth's brother was the Rev. Samuel Willard who became the Vice President of Harvard Collage. To marry this girl was to marry well indeed!" (The Story of the Bloods, by Harris) Harris states that a piece of the wedding dress worn by Elizabeth on the day of her marriage has been carefully preserved in the historical room over the library in the town of Carlisle.
Elizabeths dowery consisting of a thousand acres of land be it more or less... the most of it in Concord Village (now Acton)." Robert was not to dispose of this land, "but it shall be for their children and heirs of my (Simon Willard's) daughter. This later became known as Virginia Farm and was not strickly a part of Bloods Farm."
